What you get with Visio 2016 Professional

Visio 2016 Professional (1PC) licenses Microsoft’s 2016 diagramming app in its Professional edition on a single computer with Windows 10 or Windows 11. It includes shapes for the BPMN 2.0, UML 2.4 and IEEE standards, one-step data linking and Information Rights Management. The key, a link to the Microsoft download and our installation steps are e-mailed after payment, usually within a few minutes, and the PDF invoice comes with the completed order. It is a one-time purchase.

Visio 2016 or a newer version

Visio 2016 makes sense on PCs that already run Office 2016 and for drawings shared with other 2016 users. Visio 2019 added a database model template without an add-in and AutoCAD 2017 import; see Visio 2019 Professional. The current release is Visio Professional 2024.

How to activate Visio 2016 Professional

1. In your browser, load setup.office.com and click Get Started.
2. Sign in with a Microsoft account you already use, or create one.
3. Enter the key from our e-mail, click Next, choose a language and click Redeem; the Visio Professional 2016 setup file downloads right away.
4. Double-click the setup file, accept the security prompt and wait until setup is done.
5. Start Visio. The Activation Wizard comes up a few seconds later: choose activation over the Internet and select Next.

Questions about Visio 2016 Professional

Can Visio 2016 go on a PC with Office 2019 or Microsoft 365?

It depends on how Visio 2016 is installed. Microsoft supports a Click-to-Run copy next to them, but not an MSI copy, because both carry version 16.0 and the installation technologies differ. In addition, a 32-bit Visio can’t sit beside a 64-bit Office, or the reverse.

Will colleagues on Visio 2021 or 2024 open my diagrams?

Yes. Visio 2013 and every later version, including 2016, save the XML-based .vsdx format.
